PHOENIX, Ariz. – The Thunderbirds are once again inviting all First Responders as well as Active, Reserve and Retired Military personnel and one accompanying individual to be their guests (FREE OF CHARGE) at the 2018 Waste Management Phoenix Open Presented by The Ak-Chin Indian Community. This is the 17th year that the tournament host Thunderbirds have extended this free invitation as a small gesture of thanks for all these heroes do for our country.
To take advantage of the free ticket offer, First Responders and Active, Reserve and Retired Military must first go to https://birdiesforthebrave.sheerid.com/wmphoenixopen-2018/ to register through the Sheer ID verification program. Eligible personnel must present their official military ID or badge at any ticket booth at the main tournament entrance. Tickets are limited to two per day, per each official department ID. Standard tournament spectator policies will be in enforced, including no firearms allowed. Business cards and pay stubs will not be accepted as forms of ID. Additionally, the Birdies for the Brave Patriots’ Outpost will be open Wednesday through Sunday during tournament week and available to all active duty, reserve, and retired U.S. military from all five branches of the Armed Forces. Located near the 18th tee box, Patriots’ Outpost is a great venue where military personnel (+ two guests) can enjoy great food and drinks (complimentary) and watch PGA TOUR golf action in a relaxed and comfortable setting.
In order for all of our military heroes to get the chance to experience the Birdies for the Brave Patriots Outpost, official military ID’s will be required to gain access, and the two-guest maximum guideline will be strictly enforced to help keep the crowds and wait times down.
The 2018 Waste Management Phoenix Open Presented by the Ak-Chin Indian Community will be held at TPC Scottsdale January 29 – February 4, 2018. “The People’s Open” is the best-attended golf tournament in the world and has gained legendary status for being the most unique stop on the PGA TOUR. The 2018 edition will mark the 83rd playing of the event (one of the five oldest events on the PGA TOUR) and the ninth as the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
The Thunderbirds were founded in 1937 with the mission of promoting the Valley of the Sun through sports. The Thunderbirds consist of 55 “active” members and more than 250 “life” members. In 2017 The Thunderbirds raised a record $10.1 million for charity from proceeds from last year’s tournament and have eclipsed $122 million in charitable giving since its inception in 1932.
